Asus launches ROG Xbox Ally X20 20th-Anniversary OLED, AR

Asus unveiled a limited 20th‑anniversary ROG Xbox Ally X20 handheld with an OLED display and bundled ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses.

Asus announced a limited 20th‑anniversary ROG Xbox Ally X20 handheld in an announcement marking the Republic of Gamers brand’s 20th year. The package pairs an updated Ally handheld with a bundled ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 augmented reality headset.

The Ally X20 is the first model in the Ally lineup to include an OLED display. Asus said the device also has updated controls, but it did not provide technical details for the input changes. Earlier Ally models used LCD screens.

The handheld uses a semi-transparent black chassis with gold-colored internal accents. The design exposes internal elements while keeping the overall finish dark; Asus said the styling was inspired by classic gaming hardware.

The bundled ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 glasses use micro-OLED panels with a 240 Hz refresh rate and support native three-degrees-of-freedom motion tracking. Asus described the headset as capable of producing the experience of a virtual 171-inch screen positioned about four meters from the user.

Asus presented the package as a limited anniversary release. The company did not disclose production numbers, price, ship dates, regional availability or retail partners in the announcement.

The announcement did not include details on warranty coverage, software features tied to the AR glasses, or long-term support plans.
