Alliance signs bobeksde as MaiL09 returns to Metizport

Alliance has signed Jonatan “bobeksde” Persson to replace Liam “MaiL09” Tügel after MaiL09 returned to his parent club Metizport. Persson is scheduled to make his first appearance for Alliance at the ROG Journey event, with the team travelling to China afterwards for the XSE Pro League.

Alliance CEO Jonathan “Loda” Berg wrote in a club statement: “We did everything in our power to extend [MaiL09’s] loan. We even put across the highest trade offer in the history of our organization, but we were unfortunately not able to come to an agreement with Metizport.” The club confirmed it could not extend the loan despite the offer.

Persson arrives from EYEBALLERS, where he played at BLAST Bounty and faced top opponents. His previous teams include 9INE, Johnny Speeds and GODSENT. Persson has a 1.03 rating this year, compared with the 1.19 rating MaiL09 posted while on loan at Alliance.

Alliance’s active roster now lists Simon “twist” Eliasson, Sean “eraa” Knutsson, Jonatan “bobeksde” Persson, Markus “upE” Johansson and Arvid “avid” Åberg, with Simon “Hawk” Vävinggren as coach. Persson will take the entry-fragger role that had been occupied by MaiL09 during his loan; prior to MaiL09, Alex “poiii” Nyholm Sundgren filled the position.

The team narrowly missed qualification for the Cologne Major and currently sit 30th in the VRS standings. Alliance will use ROG Journey and the XSE Pro League to evaluate Persson in competitive matches and to reassess the squad ahead of further qualification events.

Upon returning to Metizport, MaiL09 wrote that he expects to reach a Major soon: “If I don’t make this Major I will probably make the next one, or the one after.”
