Adidas to outfit 100+ nations for Esports Nations Cup
Adidas will be Official Kit and Global Partner for the inaugural Esports Nations Cup, supplying jerseys and tracksuits for 100+ countries and about 2,000 athletes and coaches.
Adidas will be the Official Kit Partner and a Global Partner for the inaugural Esports Nations Cup, the Esports Foundation said. The company will provide competition jerseys and tracksuits for more than 100 countries and territories, equipping roughly 2,000 athletes and coaches.
Adidas will design and manufacture each nation’s uniform to reflect national identity while keeping a shared visual style for the tournament. Individual national kits are scheduled to be revealed on the Esports Nations Cup website in the coming weeks.
The partnership covers all national teams entered in the first edition, with Adidas supplying both jerseys and tracksuits for every participating delegation.
The Esports Foundation also announced a $45 million funding model for the competition. The plan allocates $20 million to national partners and sets aside $25 million for prize money and incentives to clubs that release players for the event.
The Esports Nations Cup will be organised as a country-versus-country tournament modelled on traditional international sport. National partners will manage squads and competition structures so players represent their countries rather than club teams. Organisers say the format is intended to establish a national team system that continues beyond a single tournament cycle.
Esports Leaders, an executive gathering tied to the event, will be held at the Hôtel du Collectionneur during the closing days of the Esports World Cup and will bring together senior decision-makers from across esports and gaming.
Mohammed Al Nimer, chief commercial officer at the Esports Foundation, described national team jerseys as carrying identity, pride and the ambition of entire countries and territories, and said partnering with adidas gives esports athletes the opportunity to represent their nations with the same sense of meaning and prestige seen in traditional sport.
Phillip Waller, Adidas senior vice-president of brand development, noted the company’s experience outfitting athletes at major sporting events and added the Esports Nations Cup allows Adidas to apply that experience to esports on a global level.
