100 Thieves eliminate BC.Game, advance in EWC qualifier

100 Thieves eliminated BC.Game 2-1 in the Esports World Cup qualifier in Paris and will meet the winner of Acend and 1win for the qualifier’s single main event invite.

The best-of-three opened on Inferno, where BC.Game won after a dominant showing from Ayush “mzinho” Batbold. BC.Game controlled rounds with coordinated executes and strong individual plays to take map one.

On Nuke, 100 Thieves recovered after a difficult first half against a strong CT-side performance from Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev. Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen produced a 1v3 clutch to force overtime, and 100 Thieves won the extra rounds to level the series.

The decider on Anubis finished 13-11. BC.Game started 4-1 following the opening pistol, but 100 Thieves adopted a proactive CT approach to take control of the first half. The second half featured several force-buy sequences, including a four-kill hold by s1mple on a BC.Game force-buy. At 9-10, 100 Thieves pushed A with Tec-9s to put BC.Game on a double eco. Gizmy won a 1v2 in round 23, and Håvard “rain” Nygaard closed the match with a three-kill round to secure the series.

Stat lines for the series included s1mple with 64 kills and a 1.34 rating, Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen with 50 kills and a 1.23 rating, William “sirah” Kjærsgaard with 51 kills and a 1.09 rating, Alex “poiii” Nyholm Sundgren with 50 kills and a 1.06 rating, Håvard “rain” Nygaard with 45 kills and a 1.03 rating, Emil “Magisk” Reif with 51 kills and a 1.08 rating, Ayush “mzinho” Batbold with 41 kills and a 1.01 rating, and Nicolai “device” Reedtz with 38 kills and a 0.79 rating.

100 Thieves advance to face the winner of Acend versus 1win to decide which team from that side of the bracket— which also included Liquid, OG and FOKUS-earns the qualifier’s main event invite. Both organizations entered the qualifier after recent roster investments.
