100 Thieves beat 1win to reach Esports World Cup groups
100 Thieves defeated 1win 2–0 (Ancient 16–14, Anubis 13–6) to qualify for the Esports World Cup group stage.
100 Thieves advanced to the Esports World Cup double-elimination group stage after a 2–0 win over 1win in the open qualifier. The team won Ancient 16–14 in overtime and took Anubis 13–6 to secure the series.
The Ancient map required extra time before 100 Thieves closed it out 16–14. On Anubis, 100 Thieves built a 9–3 CT half, aided by Alex “poiii” Nyholm Sundgren’s 1.65-rated defensive half, and converted that lead into a 13–6 map win despite 1win taking the opening pistol round.
The victory earns 100 Thieves a place in the group stage, which begins August 12, and marks the organization’s first appearance at a tier-one LAN since the roster returned to Counter-Strike earlier this year. The team also moved up to No. 33 in the VRS standings and will have an opportunity to add ranking points during the group phase.
