Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage draw sets eight opening matches

The Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage draw confirmed the eight first-round matches for the 16-team League of Legends World Championship stage. The stage begins Oct. 23 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas.

The draw took place Sunday, Oct. 18, after Karmine Corp defeated MVK Esports in the Play-In Grand Final to claim the last Swiss Stage spot. Karmine Corp had earlier beaten Cloud9 3-2 in a comeback win before sweeping MVK Esports 3-0 in the upper-bracket final.

The opening matches are Gen.G versus Invictus Gaming, Team Liquid Alienware versus CTBC Flying Oyster, Anyone’s Legend versus Karmine Corp, G2 Esports versus Dplus KIA, Hanwha Life Esports versus Top Esports, LOS versus T1, Team Secret Whales versus LYON, and Bilibili Gaming versus Movistar KOI.

The teams were divided into four seeding pools based on their regional placements and qualification routes. Pool 1 teams were paired with Pool 4 teams, while Pool 2 teams were paired with Pool 3 teams. Teams from the same region could not meet in the opening round.

All first-round matches will be best-of-one series. The official match order and individual start times had not been confirmed as of Oct. 18. Regional restrictions apply only to the first round, so teams from the same region can meet later. Rematches between teams that have already played each other are generally prohibited during the Swiss Stage.

The Swiss Stage can last up to five rounds. After each round, teams are paired with opponents that have the same win-loss record. A team advances to the Knockout Stage after three wins and is eliminated after three losses.

Matches that decide qualification or elimination will be best-of-three series under Fearless Draft rules. All other Swiss Stage matches will be best-of-one. Eight teams will qualify for the Knockout Stage.

The Swiss Stage begins Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. PDT, or 5 p.m. UTC. The opening rounds are scheduled for Oct. 23 through Oct. 26, followed by the remaining matches from Oct. 28 through Oct. 31. The Knockout Stage is scheduled for Nov. 3 through Nov. 8. The Worlds 2026 Grand Final is set for Nov. 14 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
