MOUZ sweep Aurora to reach Bucharest semifinals

MOUZ advanced to the PGL Masters Bucharest semifinals with a 2-0 win over Aurora on Thursday. Aurora took an early lead on Mirage but won only five of the remaining 31 rounds across the series.

Aurora began on Mirage’s Counter-Terrorist side and went 3-0 up before MOUZ could afford full buys. MOUZ then won control of the map and led 7-5 at halftime. Oldřich “PR” Nový added a triple kill in the second pistol round to extend MOUZ’s advantage.

Aurora won one round on its T side before MOUZ closed the map and moved the series to Cache.

MOUZ led 10-2 on the second map. Aurora struggled to create openings against MOUZ’s defense, and MOUZ won the next three rounds on the T side to complete the sweep.

Lotan “Spinx” Giladi led MOUZ with 36 kills, 15 deaths and a 1.71 rating. PR had 30 kills and a 1.50 rating. Adrian “xelex” Vincze, Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás and Dorian “xertioN” Berman also finished with more kills than deaths.

Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo led Aurora with a 0.84 rating. No Aurora player reached a 0.85 rating.

“We prepared as usual,” xelex said in a post-match interview. “It was very good by sycrone and all the other guys. The prep worked well, we had good ideas. We called it at the right moment. It worked out.”

Aurora AWPer Özgür “woxic” Eker wrote after the match that “today it just wasn’t our day.” He added that Aurora could not fight MOUZ “either as a team or individually” and had been eliminated from the tournament.

MOUZ will play the winner of BETBOOM and FURIA in the semifinals on Friday at 15:00. The match was the teams’ first meeting since PGL Astana, where MOUZ used Justinas “jL” Lekavicius as a stand-in and Aurora had its previous full Turkish lineup.
